MEMO

DATE: March I, 2001

TO : All Committees, City Council

FROM: Jim March

RE : Committee Liaisons

I...........................................................................

The City Council has now finished the joint meetings with all Committees. It appears
there are many different opinions on how Committee liaisons should be handled. Council
has decided to let the Committees decide whether or not each individual Committee
would like a liaison. If you do want a liaison, one will be provided. Council would
intend to rotate liaisons on an annual basis.

If you would like a liaison available only as needed that is also acceptable. If you would
like a Council liaison to attend only a portion of the meeting, Council requests that the
item(s) be placed at the beginning of the agenda. Council would like a representative of
the committee to come to a Council meeting at least every six months to maintain the
lines of communication between Committee and Council Please report your
Committee's preference as soon as possible. Council is committed to provide whatever
staffing, training or resources necessary for the Committees to complete their designated
tasks.
