Ms. Amson <br />stated that a class must be taken prior to issuance of equipment. Committee Member <br />Fairbrother questioned the cost of using NMTC equipment. Ms. Amson stated that <br />representatives of Cities would receive the equipment for no charge. Chair Brenner <br />requested Ms. Amson to explain the uses of the available cable casting channels. Ms. <br />Amson stated that Channel 16 was the Government Access Channel governed by the <br />City, with the City having editorial control over the content of the channel. Ms. Amson <br />explained Universal PEG Service and the availability of receiving same at no cost as long <br />as the area meets the density requirements of the cable company. Ms. Amson stated that <br />she had a flyer available and would forward same in regards to this option. <br /> <br />Chair Brenner questioned what channels would be received with the Universal PEG <br />Service. Ms. Amson explained that a resident would received all of tbe Public Access <br />Channels (PEG) or Community Programming Channels; Channel 6, Regional Channel, <br />Channel 15, Public Access Channel for the seven (7) city consortium, Channel 16, <br />Centerville Government Channel, Channel 57, Program Scheduling for Channel 15, <br />Channel 58, School District I I, Channel 60, School District 12 (Centennial), Channel 61, <br />School District 16. Ms. Amson stated that these channel numbers would vary dependent <br />upon using a cable ready television or a cable box with the Universal PEG Service. <br /> <br />Ms. Amson introduced Mr. Tronson and stated that if the City desired to utilize the <br />NMTC facility for programs other than news related, Mr. Tronson would be available to <br />assist in that capacity. <br /> <br />Chair-Brenner questioned the number of homes that have the capability of receiving the <br />Universal Service in Centerville. Ms. Amson stated that 55 to 60% of the homes are <br />currently receiving cable services, however, this does not take into consideration homes <br />that do not meet the density requirements. Ms. Amson stated that she would forward to <br />the Committee a total number of households serviced which may provide more accurate <br />figures. <br /> <br />Chair Brenner questioned the City's current equipment and possible additions for the <br />future. Ms. Amson questioned the current equipment. Mr. Klang reviewed the <br />equipment used for cable casting the Council meetings. Both Mr. Klang and other <br />Committee members stated that there is a problem with the audio of the meetings. Mr. <br />Klang stated that the semi-stationary, tabletop microphones were currently being used <br />when lapel microphones which would provide a much better audio. Ms. Amson noted <br />that this is a common problem for cities. Committee Member Fairbrother questioned <br />whether a session with Council members regarding the usage of the microphones would <br />be advantageous. Mr. Klang concurred. Both Mr. Klang and Ms. Amson stated that the <br />Scala system that the City is currently utilizing is fine and provides good graphics. Ms. <br />Amson did suggest the purchase of a mixer or switcher for approximately $1,000. <br /> <br />Chair Brenner questioned the displaying of plans, sketches or diagrams and the cable <br />casting of same. Chair Brenner stated that the City of Blaine, she believed, had a <br />dedicated camera for same. Chair Brenner questioned possibilities of improving same. <br />Committee Member Fairbrother stated that a board was to be installed on the wall. Mr. <br />Klang stated that a large amount of side glare would be received by the camera due to the <br />camera angle and this placement. Mr. Klang suggested placing the current easel more <br />toward the center of the Council Chambers allowing a more head-on camera angle the <br /> <br />Page 2 of? <br />
