(4th) meeting of the month is the most important Lions meeting to attend for making any
type of requests or proposals.

Mr. March added that the Lions felt it best to build the larger structure that will hold two
picnic tables.

The general consensus of the Parks and Recreation Committee was that any type of
donation from the Lions Club is greatly welcomed and appreciated.

CONSIDERA nON OF MINUTES

AprilS. 2000 Park and Recreation Meeting Minutes

Motion by Mr. Porter, seconded by Ms. DeVine to approve the AprilS, 2000 Park
and Recreation Meeting Minutes witb noted changes. All in favor. Motion carried
unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS

Dedication ofLaune LaMotte Park
Ms. Lien explained that since the Parks and Recreation Committee did not have a
meeting in May, nor set a specific date to hold the dedication, it would have been
impossible for her to continue any further planning for the dedication. Ms. Lien
explained that in addition to the lack of a date, she had received several comments
relating to the dedication and the fact that it was "premature" for such an event. Ms. Lien
suggested that once the park is complete with playground equipment, parking lot, ball
fields, fences, lights, trails, etc. that possibly a grand opening would be more fitting. Ms.
Lien shared that she had already sent out letters requesting donations from several local
businesses, with no response. She had also contacted Cub Foods Bakery, and they were
willing to donate a cake for the occasion. Ms. Lien had already drafted invitations to
send out, along with a list of past Park and Recreation Committee Members.

The Park and Recreation Committee elected to table the dedication until a later date.

Goals
The Committee discussed each members goals briefly as follows:

Trees and Satellites:
Ms. Lien explained that Mr. Larson had submitted his suggestions for trees and satellites
for the previous meeting. Unfortunately, Mr. Larson is still out of town, and is unable to
discuss the status with the committee. Mr. Sweeney suggested "scattering" the trees
more throughout the parks rather than "rimming around" the boarders. Mr. LeBlanc
suggested possibly the City Forester or a professional could look at each park and make
suggestions.

3
