<br />Not Approved <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION <br />COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />April 5, 2000 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Park and Recreation Committee of the City of <br />Centerville held their regularly scheduled meeting on April 5, 2000 at City Hall, 1880 <br />Main Street. Chairperson Michael Navin called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. The <br />Park and Recreation Committee met at Laurie LaMotte Park at 6:00 p.rn. before the <br />meeting, to "mark-out" the trail that connects to the Anoka County Trail System. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Chairperson Michael Navin <br />Karla DeVine <br />Doug Porter <br />Dale Larson <br />Wayne LeBlanc <br />Council Member Terry Sweeney (liaison) <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Staff: Jill Lien <br />Tedd Peterson, Public Works <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />Mr. Navin started the roll call by announcing his name and position on the Park and <br />Recreation Committee with the rest of the roll call as follows: Karla DeVine, Tedd <br />Peterson, Terry Sweeney, Doug Porter, Wayne LeBlanc and Dale Larson. <br /> <br />Mr. Craig Bodde and Mr. Darrell Silverness from the YMCA were present, along with <br />Kevin Smith, Danny Lofgren, Bobby Lofgren and Lance Dahl who expressed their <br />interest in a bike track. <br /> <br />Mr. Navin conducted the Oath of Office for Mr. LeBlanc. <br /> <br />APPEARANCES <br /> <br />YMCA <br />Mr. Silverness explained that the YMCA consists of24 board members, of which there <br />are 20 adults and four (4) high school students. The board meets every other month, is <br />very active and has made a lot of progress. The name of the proposed YMCA is called <br />the "Chain of Lakes YMCA". Mr. Silverness would like to run an ad in our local <br />newsletter explaining the benefits offered to the residents ofCenterville. Mr. Silverness <br />commented that this would be a great opportunity for newcomers to Centerville to meet <br />new people, become involved and provide an "outlet for kids".
