<br />I <br /> <br />Effective: 2/27/59 <br />City of Centerville Ord. #1 <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br /> <br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> <br />ORDINANCE #1 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE DEFINING GARBAGE, RUBBISH AND WATER MATTER AND <br />PROVIDING FOR AND REGULATING THE KEEPING, GATHERING, RECEIVING, <br />DISPOSING AND DESTROYING THEREOF: MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO SPILL <br />GARBAGE, RUBBISH OR W ATERMATTEROF ANY KIND UPON THE PUBLIC WAYS <br />OF THE VILLAGE OF CENTERVILLE: PROVIDING THE MUNICIPAL COLLECTION <br />. OF GARBAGE BY CONTRACT, PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF FEES TO <br />BE CHARGED FOR GARBAGE COLLECTIONS: PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR <br />VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF TillS ORDINANCE: AND REPEALING <br />INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES. <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CENTERVILLE ORDAlNS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. DEFINITIONS. <br /> <br />(1) Garbage as used in this ordinance, applies to botb residences and businesses and <br />co=ercial enterprises, and shall consist of organic refuse resulting from tbe <br />preparation of food and decayed and spoiled food from any source, dead animals of <br />not more tban 10 pounds weights each, and glass and tin cans in which foods are <br />customarily purchased. <br /> <br />(2) Rubbish, as tbe work is used in this ordinance, consists of wood, leaves, chips <br />shavings, printed matter, paper, paste board, grass, rags, straw discarded wearing <br />apparel, and all otber combustible matter not included in this ordinance under tbe <br />term garbage. <br /> <br />(3) Waste matter, as tbe words are used in this ordinance, consists of natural soil, earth, <br />sand, clay, gravel, loam, brick, plaster, ashes, and all noncombustible matter. <br /> <br />(4) Farm, as tbe word is used in this ordinance, shall consist of any tract ofland five (5) <br />acres or greater in area used for agricultural purposes. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. CARE OF GARBAGE. <br /> <br />It shall be tbe duty of every tenant, lessee, or occupant of every private dwelling house, or <br />commercial enterprise, and tbe owner of every furnished flat or apartment house, or business <br /> <br />Page 1 of4 <br />
