The
board votes for a chair and makes committee assignments annually at its first meeting of the year.

Anoka County has a history of innovation and cooperation - working with elected and appointed officials
and staff at all levels of government, as well as business and community leaders, to achieve county goals.
As the new chair of the board, I would like you t9i;!<IJo}Vc!hlltuI,inte~d~o:,cql1tiP\le,!h~t tradition of
collaboration and partnership., ':' ;':!' !},.j j ';

Anoka County's priorities continue to be promoting Northstar commuter rail, enhancing economic
development in order to provide jobs for county residents and increase the county's tax base (such as the
Vikings stadium development), and continuing to make Anoka County a great place to live, work, and play.

Anoka County is one of the most rapidly growing counties in the state, and with that increased population,
our need for services continues togrow as well. Roads, transportation, public safety, human services for
our children and elderly, parks, and libraries will all continue to be priorities of the Anoka County board,
while also maintaining our position of being one of the lowest taxed counties on a per person basis in the
state.

I am particularly excited about the work the Anoka County Youth Advisory Council has been doing in
recent years in developing youth leadership and tackling tough issues affecting our young people.

Your input and idea~ are welcome as we work toward our common goals and objectives.
