Ever since the Minnesota Design T earn visit in 1998, 1 have been very lICtive and interested in improving the city. After the Design T earn left, 1 helped organize meetings and the city bad more than 80 volunteers interested in various possibilities. The city is fortunate to have gnod people, a close knit community, and uncommon resources.such as lakes, city ~>a~rcilic~~Jlllrk.attda~t ~~ter. The IXltentialof the city as explorcdin 1998 by the Design Team is c6fuing together. TIIroUgIi all the contacts, meetings, and activities 1 have participated in since 1998, I believe I can help the city reach a greater potential. Here is slide 4 from the Design Team. It's exciting to think that something similar to these drawings may actually happen! My participation in the Park and Recreation committee has been a very positive experience. Coordinating and planning trails with Centerville and various other governmental units has yielded real results. Of course, many penple have heen involved and everyone has worked well together. We in Parks and Recreation even took on the writing of a grant to add to possibilities. \'v'hile there will be llIall)' neW things to learn, I have heen intUlkl with mall)' cutToont events illlhe cil)'. 1 have attended virtually every Count Road 14 meeting held. I have attended AUAR meetings. I attended Council meetings when I thought I might be of use. 1 have attended workshops. Through my most recent 3 years of work protecting Peltier Lake, I worked with Lino Lakes staff and gave presentations to the Lino Lakes Council. With help from many others, we were effective in obtaining 556 petition signatures and affording permanent protection of Peltier Lake. A city Council has great responsibility. I do not enter this lightly. Decisions must be financially prudent with the long term future in mind. A city needs a good sustainable infrastructure while trying to keep costs down and quality of life up. It's a balancing act. I can say I have no special interests or large property holdings in Centerville. I would hope to make decisions that maximize value to the citizens and businesses in the community.
