<br />'. <br /> <br />City of Centerville Ord #24 <br />Effective: 10/27/99 <br /> <br />not treating their pet in such humane manner will be subject to the penalties provided in this <br />Ordinance. <br /> <br />24.11 Domestic Animal Shelters. A person in charge or control of any domestic animal which is <br />kept outdoors or in an unheated enclosure shall provide the domestic animal with shelter and bedding <br />as prescribed in this Section as a minimum. <br /> <br />(1) The shelter shall include a moisture proof and wind proof structure of <br />suitable size to accommodate the domestic animal and allow retention of <br />the body heat. <br /> <br />(2) Shade from the direct rays of the sun, during the months of June to <br />September shall be provided. <br /> <br />(3) A domestic animal kept on a farm may be provided with access to a bam <br />with sufficient quantity of loose hay or bedding to protect against cold and <br />dampness. <br /> <br />(4) All shelters required by this Section shall be subject to all building or <br />zoning regulations of the city, township, county or state. <br /> <br />24.12 Guard Dog Warning Signs. A person maintaining a dog for security purposes within the <br />City shall post a sign at all entrances to the property. Said sign shall be a minimum of 6" x 12", with <br />letters of contrasting color, a minimum of2" in height, and a brush stroke of2" minimum, with the <br />following words affixed to such sign, DANGER - GUARD DOG. <br /> <br />24.13 Abandoned Animals. Upon written notice of the Chief of Police that private property is <br />attracting or providing shelter to animals that are not owned or cared for by any known person, the <br />owner of such property shall be responsible for removing such animals in a humane manner within <br />thirty (30) days of such a written notice. <br /> <br />24.14 Animals Presenting a Danger to Health and Safety of City. If, in the reasonable belief of <br />a police officer, an animal presents an immediate danger to the health and safety of any person, or the <br />animal is threatening imminent harm to any person, or the animal is in the process of attacking any <br />person, the officer may destroy the animal in a proper and humane manner. Otherwise the officer <br />may apprehend the animal and deliver it to the pound for confinement. If the animal is destroyed, a <br />. charge to dispose of the animal is payable by the owner of the animal. If the animal is found notto be <br />a danger to the health and safety of the City, it may be released to the owner or keeper in accordance <br />with the provisions of this Ordinance. <br /> <br />24.15 Diseased Animals. <br /> <br />Page 11 of16 <br />
