<br />I ' <br /> <br />City of Centerville <br />FebruaIy 2, 2005 <br />Council Joint Work Sessioo Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />the AUAR also. Mr. Burke stated that Vice-Chairperson Ebel and <br />himself have been attending the AUAR meetings and staying up to <br />date with the project. Committee Member Burke stated that EDC <br />desires to celebrate the assets that the City has. <br /> <br />Mr. Meyer questioned whether an Economic Development <br />Authority (EDA) would be requested or utilized in the future. Mr. <br />Burke felt that this would be instrumental as both sides of the town <br />grow and an outside entity would also serve as an advisor. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra requested that Mr. Meyer update the <br />committees/commissions on the recent CDBG grant that was <br />submitted on behalf of the City for the downtown area. Mr. Meyer <br />gave a brief overview of the submitted grant. Mr. Meyer stated <br />that all committees/commissions will work on this project to some <br />extent in the future. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated that some areas along CSAHl4 may need to <br />be rezoned. <br /> <br />Committee Member Burke questioned how Council felt about an <br />EDA. Council Member Lee felt that a lot of development/re- <br />development would be taking place within Centerville within the <br />next few years. Mayor Capra stated that she would be willing to <br />look at this item; however, they can purchase property, etc. and <br />she would prefer more research prior to consideration. Council <br />Member Broussard Vickers felt that there has been a struggle <br />keeping membership in the current Committee and if interest <br />improved, she would consider forming an EDA <br /> <br />Council thanked Mr. Burke. <br /> <br />b. Parks & Recreation <br /> <br />Parks and Recreation Committee Chairperson Tedd Peterson stated <br />that P & R has a very healthy fund with many things that they are <br />considering. Their current projects that they are considering are <br />purchasing the Water Utilities property near LaMotte Park and the <br />submitted trail grant (Clearwater Creek). Mr. Peterson read the <br />mission statement of the Committee. Chairperson Peterson stated <br />that the committee's main focus/goals are connecting trails and <br />maintaining parks. Mr. Peterson stated that the Committee needed <br />to be very conscious about funds now, for the future and fiscally <br />responsible. Mayor Capra asked Mr. Meyer if park fees could be <br />assessed on redevelopment property. Mr. Meyer concurred. Mr. <br /> <br />Page 5 of8 <br />
