MEMO

18 March 2005

From;

Honorable Mayor Capra and Council
Paul Palzer, Co-interim Administrator~

To;

Re; 2005 Budgeted Equipment Purchase
+++++++ I I I I I 1+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I I I I " ++++++++++++++

In the 2005 budget, the Council appropriated $22,500.00 for the replacement of the lawn
tractor and purchase of an asphalt roller and equipment trailer. With the construction
season fast approaching I would like to acquire these items from the state bid contract
and the enclosed quote for the used Buethling 100 asphalt roller.

The trailer would be the tilt bed style to facilitate the loading of the roller, mower and
other small equipment. The total cost of the three items would be within the budgeted
amount of $22,500.00.

The other project I would like to proceed with is the preliminary work for an addition
onto the public works building and renovation ofthe public works and police substation
entrance and parking lot. The Council could either approve Bonestroo to assist with the
design and layout or this could be requested from invited contractors for the project in a
bid request. This can be a future work session issue or the Finance Director and I with
interested Councilor Commission members could work as a task force to develop the
best option for the City
