We are very proud of our joint powers agreement
to provide police services to our citizens. We believe that it is a model of efficiency and
cost effectiveness.

We would like to avail ourselves of the offer of assistance in your letter. We have a
special bill in the legislature to exempt the joint powers police building project from sales
tax. The bill hasn't made it to the floor of either the House or Senate. We at the local
levels of government feel it is wrong to apply the sales tax to any city purchases, but it is
doubly wrong to tax our emergency services activities. We ask that you would do
whatever you can to help us get the exemption for our building project (SF 166 and HF
0477). If a general exemption isn't possible, at least reward innovative and cooperative
projects such as ours. We thank you for whatever you can do to assist us.

Yours truly,

1l!o~~~

Mary Capra, Mayor

~~

;6~Circ1e Pines
Keith Perlich, Mayor

S-OlA-&~

City of Lexington
Don Valenta, Mayor
