<br />Building Code adopted, see ~ 150.01 <br /> <br />~ 154.006 GENERAL INTERPRETATION. - <br /> <br />For clarity and consistency in the understanding and application of this chapter, the following shall <br />apply, in addition to the provisions of S 10.02: <br /> <br />(A) Sentence construction or phraseology in the present tense, and similarly, references in the <br />future tense may include the present; <br /> <br />(B) The catch lines of the sections of this chapter are intended as mere catchwords to indicate the <br />content of the section, and shall not be deemed or taken to be titles of the sections, nor be deemed to <br />govern, limit, modifY or in any manner affect the scope, meaning or intent of the provisions of any <br />sections. <br /> <br />~ 154.007 DEFINITIONS. <br /> <br />For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly <br />~ -~ ="indicate~'fe1IUire!fllcdi-ffereut-1IIemIil1~-~-(7thel'w(\r~t=ineluflea~~s-seefiolrsillftl1lavecili~--~~~~ <br />meaning defmed in Minnesota Statutes. Other words not so defmed shall have tlte meaning <br />customarily associated with them. <br /> <br />ABANDONMENT. To cease or discontinue a use or activity without intent to resume, but <br />excluding temporary or short-term interruptions to a use or activity during periods of remodeling, <br />maintaining or otlterwise improving or rearranging a facility, or during normal periods of vacation or <br />seasonal closure. <br /> <br />ABUTTING. Having a common border witlt, or being separated from a common border by a <br />right-of-way, alley or easement. <br /> <br />ACCESSORY BUILDING. A subordinate structure detached from but located on the same lot as <br />the principal structure, tlte use of which is incidental and accessory to that of the principal structure. <br /> <br />ACCESSORY USE. A use incidental to and on the same lot as a principal use. <br /> <br />AGRICULTURE. The use ofland for agricultural purposes, including farming, dairying, <br />pasturage, agricultural horticulture, floriculture, viticulture and animal poultry husbandry and the <br />necessary accessory uses for packing, treating or storing the produce; provided, however, tlte operation <br />of any accessory uses shall be secondary to that of normal agricultural activities. <br /> <br />ALLEY. A public or private way permanently reserved as a secondary means of access to abutting <br />property . <br /> <br />AL TERATION. Any change, addition or modification in construction or occupancy of an eXisting <br />structure. <br /> <br />ALTERATION, STRUCTURAL. Any change in the supporting members of a building or <br />structure, such as bearing walls, columns, beams or girders; provided, however, the application of any <br />exterior siding to an existing building for the purpose of beautifYing and modernizing shall not be <br /> <br />5 <br />
