<br />. <br /> <br />Effective: 2/27/59 <br />City of Centerville Ord. # 1 <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br /> <br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> <br />ORDINANCE #1 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE DEFINING GARBAGE, RUBBISH AND WASTE MATTER <br />AND PROVIDING FOR AND REGULATING THE KEEPING, GATHERING, <br />RECEIVING, DISPOSING AND DESTROYING THEREOF; MAKING IT <br />UNLAWFUL TO SPILL GARBAGE, RUBBISH OR WATER MATTER OF ANY <br />KIND UPON THE PUBLIC WAYS OF THE CITY OF CENTERVILLE: <br />PROVIDING THE MUNICIPAL COLLECTION OF GARBAGE BY <br />CONTRACT, PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF FEES TO BE <br />CHARGED FOR GARBAGE COLLECTIONS; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR <br />VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND REPEALING <br />INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Centerville, Anoka County, Minnesota does ordain: <br /> <br />SECTION l. DEFINITIONS. <br /> <br />A. Garbage. Applies to both residences and businesses and commercial <br />enterprises, and shall consist of organic refuse resulting from the <br />preparation of food and decayed and spoiled food from any source, dead <br />animals of not more than 10 pounds in weight each, and glass and tin cans <br />in which foods are customarily purchased. <br /> <br />B. Rubbish. Consists of wood, leaves, chips, shavings, printed matter, paper, <br />paste board, grass, rags, straw, discarded wearing apparel, and all other <br />combustible matter not included in this ordinance under the term garbage. <br /> <br />C. Waste Matter. Consists of natural soil, earth, sand, clay, gravel, loam, <br />brick, plaster, ashes, and all non-combustible matter. <br /> <br />D. Collection Service. A private operation engaged in collection and <br />transportation of refuse, yard waste and recyclables. <br /> <br />E. Independent Contractor. A person authorized by the Contractor to <br />perform refuse collection services within the City. <br /> <br />F. Single Stream Recycling. The commingled collection of all recyclables in <br />a single 32, 64, or 96 gallon, wheeled cart. <br /> <br />Page 1 of5 <br />
