<br />City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />July 22, 2009 <br /> Councilmember Fehrenbacher asked for clarification regarding the ratio of 5-1 warnings vs. <br />tickets. <br /> <br /> Chief Makela replied that the Police Department recognizes that sometimes people need a <br />warning versus a ticket. They also prefer to give drivers the benefit of the doubt. <br /> <br /> Mayor Capra stated that Chief Makela also believes in traffic stops as a way to prevent more <br />serious problems. <br /> <br /> 2. Sergeant Aldridge Updates <br /> <br /> Sergeant Aldridge appeared to give updates to the City Council. Some of the updates were: <br /> <br />-The Police Department will have a table at the Fete des Lacs celebration, with garage <br />door stickers and crime watch information. <br /> <br />-An Amber Ready Program was initiated for parents to provide information on their <br />children to the Police Department. <br /> <br />-Theft from vehicles is down 85% from where it was last year. <br /> <br />-The Police Department participated in the Centerville Elementary parade. <br /> <br />-The Police Department continues work to get older kids out of the parks so the <br />younger kids can use the park. <br /> <br />-There was 1 theft of construction equipment from a vehicle. <br /> <br />-There was 1 theft of aluminum from a business. <br /> <br />-There were 2 domestic assault arrests. <br /> <br />-The Police Department assisted with the Special Olympic Torch Run. <br /> <br />-Information regarding CPR Training is on the Police Department’s website. <br /> <br />-There was 1 burglary, and the suspect was apprehended. <br /> <br />-There were 3 DWI arrests <br /> <br />-There was 1 drug arrest <br /> <br />-There were 3 incidents of minor consumption. <br /> <br /> Mayor Capra thanked Sgt. Aldridge for the Police Department’s due diligence in the parks <br />and for its help with the CERT trainees. <br /> <br /> Sgt. Aldridge stated that citizens can call the department with crime tips at 651-763-1212 <br />and remain anonymous. <br /> <br /> <br />VII.OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br /> None <br /> <br />VIII.NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1.Review of Standard & Poors Bond Rating Report – Mr. Rusty Fifield, Northland <br />Securities <br /> <br />Mr. Fifield, Northland Securities, discussed the Standard & Poors Bond Rating Report.
