<br />City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />August 12, 2009 <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Broussard Vickers, to approve <br /> <br />Parks & Recreation Committee’s Recommendation to Release Final Payment to Bonestroo for <br />Engineering Services, in the Amount of $4,472.21 (Hidden Spring Park). All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Parks & Recreation Committee Recommendation for Installation of Irrigations System at Hidden <br />Spring Park – Albrecht Irrigation – (Not to Exceed $6,884) <br /> <br />Councilmember Lee stated that they have made a substantial investment in Hidden Spring Park and <br />should keep it looking good by keeping it properly irrigated. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra inquired whether this is budgeted. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson replied that it would be funded by the Parks & Recreation’s Discretionary <br />Budget. <br /> <br />Councilmember Fehrenbacher inquired whether it would be wise to use this money for this purpose, <br />since 2010 may be a tough year. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion ensued. <br /> <br />Councilmember Paar stated that this is a less important issue. Since it is budget time and the City is <br />short, he did not see the need to put in sprinklers at this time <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated that she is not in favor of putting sprinklers in the entire park but would not be <br />opposed to irrigating some of the area. <br /> <br />Councilmember Broussard Vickers stated that it is almost the end of this growing season. <br /> <br /> Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Mayor Capra, to approve the Parks & Recreation <br />Committee’s Recommendation for Installation of Irrigations System at Hidden Spring Park – <br />Albrecht Irrigation (Not to Exceed $6,884). Motion failed (1/4). (Councilmember Lee voting in <br />favor.) <br /> <br /> <br />4.Parks & Recreation Committee Recommendation for Treatment of Ash Trees Within Hidden <br />Spring Park and Behind City Hall <br /> <br />Councilmember Lee stated that he believes this would be Public Works’ responsibility. He added that <br />the Parks & Recreation Committee are not sold on doing this or if it will work. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson stated that they do not just treat the trees once. They have to be treated once <br />per year. Public Works Director Paul Palzer would say he does not have it in his budget to do this every <br />year. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated that she would be more open to treating the mature trees in Hidden Spring Park, but <br />not those behind City Hall. <br />Page 7 of 11 <br /> <br />
