ay of Centerville Page
Downtown Strom Water Reclamation 10/21/09
intend to irrigate is heavily used by children and this issue is likely to be raised by members of
the public and was already raised by the City's Parks and Rec. Committee. In response to this
inquiry from the Parks and Rec. Committee, we asked the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to
weigh In. Attached to this letter is their response, which essentially says that they do not see an
issue as long as the intake to the irrigation system is properly designed to keep it away from both
the bottom of the pond and the surface of the water (areas with heavier pollutant
concentrations). Our design will keep the intake point at a constant distance below the surface,
but never too dose to the bottom, in an effort to mitigate this concern and follow the direction
from the PCA.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
BONESTROO
k
Mark Statz
City Engineer
651- 604 -4709
Attachments: Emails RE: PCA's position on issues.
cc: Paul Palzer — Public Works Director
LMM - Bonestroo
