Employee will serve. <br /> 9.9 Leave for Bone Marrow Donation <br /> General: Under Minnesota Statute § 181.945, an Employee who works an average <br /> of at least 20 hours per week is entitled to a paid leave of absence to undergo a <br /> medical procedure to donate bone marrow. The combined length of the leave may <br /> not exceed forty (40) hours, unless agreed to by the Employer. The Employer may <br /> require verification by a physician of the purpose and length of each leave requested <br /> by the Employee to donate bone marrow. If there is a medical determination that <br /> the Employee does not qualify as a bone marrow donor, the paid leave of absence <br /> granted to the Employee prior to that medical determination is not forfeited. <br /> 9.10 Civil Air Patrol Leave <br /> General: Under Minnesota Statute § 181.946, an Employee who works an average <br /> of at least 20 hours per week and is a member of the civil air patrol is entitled to <br /> leave of absence without pay for time spent rendering service as a member of the <br /> civil air patrol on the request and under the authority of the State or any of its <br /> political subdivisions. The leave shall be granted unless the leave would unduly <br /> disrupt the operations of the Employer. <br /> 9.11 Time Off to Vote <br /> General: Under Minnesota Statute 204C.04, every Employee who is eligible to vote <br /> in an election has the right to be absent from work for the purpose of voting during <br /> the morning of the day of that election, without penalty or deduction from salary or <br /> wages because of the absence. <br /> Elections Covered: For purposes of this section, "election" means a regularly <br /> scheduled State primary or general election, an election to fill a vacancy in the office <br /> of United States Senator or United States Representative, or an election to fill a <br /> vacancy in the office of State Senator or State Representative. <br /> 9.12 Leave for Adoptive Parents <br /> General: Under Minnesota Statute § 181.92, Employees shall, upon request, be <br /> granted a minimum of four weeks off, without pay, for the adoption of a child. The <br /> period of time off shall begin before, or at the time of, the child's placement in the <br /> adoptive parent's home, and shall be for the purpose of arranging the child's <br /> placement or caring for the child after placement. An Employee may choose to use <br /> accrued personal leave for all or a portion of the adoption leave. <br /> 9.13 Sick or Injured Child Care Leave <br /> General: Under Minnesota Statute § 181.9413, Employees may use personal leave <br /> benefits provided by the City for absences due to an illness of or injury to the <br /> Page 23of51 <br /> Adopted XXX, 2009 <br /> 71 <br />
