Public, educational, and government C'PEO") channels <br /> permit schools, governments, churches, individuals and groups to provide and receive <br /> infottnation about local events, emergencies, and issues. PEO channels encourage oreation of <br /> Reel Programming, cover governehent and school meetings, and promote localism and civic <br /> engagement. <br /> The CAP Act responds to four immediate threats to PEO by doing the following: <br /> Allowing PRO fees to be used for any PEO- related purposes; <br /> a. Requiring PEO channels to be carried in the same manner es local broadcast channels; <br /> e Requiring the FCC to study the effect state video Eranobiae laws have had on PRO <br /> channels, and requiring operators to provide the greater of the srmport required under <br /> state laws, or the support historically provided for PP.CO; and <br /> e Making cable television- related laws and regulations applicable to all landline video <br /> providers. <br /> Preserving cotnmanities' ability to share local information is very important to us.
