masinc =N RIgInCI w
Edition # 13 4 -14 -97 through 4 -18 -97
Building permits issued this week = 11
Building permits issued YTD = 29
* Earth Day is Saturday. Be at City Hall at 9:00 if you wish to
help with the town clean -up.
* We have received word that Lino Lakes is willing to allow us
to connect into their water system, but only if we connect at
the intersection of 21st and Cedar Street. I will ask Dave
Nyberg to comment on the feasibility of this option at the
Council meeting.
* In speaking with Gerald Rehbein, the food distributor is still
looking at the Industrial property that Gerald owns. They
have provided Gerald with the layout for a building they would
like to build. Gerald has conducted a topographical survey
and overlaid their building plans on his site. He is waiting
to hear from them. They are also looking at a potential site
in Rogers, MN.
* Park Grove Development has pulled another permit to begin
construction on their third eight -plea townhome unit.
* Paul Palzer and I met with Dave Nyberg and Tom Kaldunski on
Thursday afternoon. Mr. Kaldunski is MSA's
inflow /infiltration expert. We have come up with a plan to
try to reduce I/I in our sanitary sewer system. Some new
construction standards will be used in the construction of
manholes in the Lakeland Hills project. We will begin our
study of the manholes during a rainy period in late April or
early May. The report on this project will be used for the
basis of submission of a $40,000 grant request from Met
Council to correct system deficiencies that we identify.
* The Council will need to make a decision on the financing
method (for accounting purposes) on the acquisition of the
LaMotte Park extension. I would recommend allocating at least
50% of the purchase from TIF funds. I will speak with Carolyn
Drude to get her recommendation. The auditor recommends
allocating the entire expenditure from TIF. With the balance
in the park fund, anticipated future park fund deposits, and
other agency commitments, I believe that it would be feasible
to begin an initial park development phase this year. I will
be working with the park board to put some hard numbers
together for presentation to the Council.
•
