• <br /> ORDINANCE <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> AN ORDINANCE <br /> INITIATING AND IMPLEMENTING A LAWN AND <br /> GARDEN WATER USE PROGRAM TO CONTROL <br /> WATER USE DURING PERIODS OF PEAK USE AND THEREBY <br /> CONSERVE WATER IN THE MATTER OF THE <br /> COMPREHENSIVE WATER SUPPLY PLAN PROJECT OF 1997 <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Centerville has recently reviewed and approved the Comprehensive Water <br /> Supply Plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Centerville has directed that the Comprehensive Water Supply plan be <br /> submitted for review by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and <br /> Metropolitan Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, a component of the Comprehensive Water Supply Plan includes a recommendation <br /> to restrict water use to conserve water. <br /> The City Council of the City of Centerville, Minnesota, does ordain: <br /> Lawn and garden watering is prohibited between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. every year <br /> from May 1 through September 1 for all addresses on all days. This ordinance shall apply only to <br /> those residents and water sources connected to the Centerville water system. Use of private wells <br /> is exempt from this ordinance. <br /> Residents whose address ends in an even number may water their lawns and gardens before 10:00 <br /> a.m. only on even number days, and residents whose address ends in an odd number may water their <br /> lawns and gardens before 10:00 a.m. only on odd number days. All residents may water their lawns <br /> and gardens on any day after 6:00 p.m. <br /> No person shall use or permit water to be used in violation of this sprinkling ban and any customer <br /> who does so shall be charged $50.00 for each day of violation and the charge shall be added to the <br /> customer's next water bill. Continued violation shall be cause for discontinuance of water service. <br /> The City will provide notice to customers using the attached water restriction notice.
