Mr. March also explained the market study that was done <br /> last year was to bring our wages up to the marketrate. Mr. March stressed to council <br /> that if they are unsure of something they need to ask and clarify their concerns. It was <br /> agreed amongst the Council that the residents are most important. <br /> Council Member Sweeney questioned if there is a pecking order. He offered he was an <br /> Informational Officer, and there are always ways to streamline and make time more <br /> efficient. Terry also questioned the office arrangement / furniture. Terry stressed all <br /> software should be the same. <br /> Jim March explained the staff had looked into new office furniture and networking the <br /> computers a year ago. The office furniture that was proposed to improve efficiency was <br /> voted down. <br /> Council Member Nelson suggested phone head sets and networking all of the Council with <br /> City Hall Staff through fax machines and/or e-mail and that technology doesn't have to <br /> cost much. Mari offered maybe council members should spend some time at City Hall to <br /> get an idea of what goes on. Mari felt she could make suggestions to make the office <br /> more efficient due to her business expertise. <br /> Paul Palzer mentioned a lot of these issues go back to the goals and objectives. Mr. <br /> Palzer is concerned about micro- managing. <br /> Mr. March mentioned we received a quote last year from a local vendor on networking <br /> our computers, but it was very costly and not in our budget this year. <br /> Tom Wilharber left the meeting at 6:50 p.m. to attend a meeting at the Wargo Nature <br /> Center. <br /> Council Member Sweeney requested more information on the public works facility. <br /> Council Member (and Acting Mayor) Brenner felt it would be best to have an orientation / <br /> drive around with the new Council. It was determined that Thursday, February 18, from <br /> 9:00 - 12:00 Public Works will take Council on a drive around the City which will include <br /> visiting the public works site, lift stations, Lake Area Utilities (future public works site), <br /> and all of the parks and developments. <br /> Paul Palzer noted there are still 5 -6 items from 1997 goals that haven't been met. He also <br /> mentioned the Police Department set up an office at public works last week. <br /> Council Member Nelson suggested each council member compile a list of ten (10) goals, <br /> ranking them with ten (10) being the highest - and one (1) being the lowest.
