Green Company OOMMI
 a CONSULTING ENGINEERS Frierly MBA
Gensul5ng Engineers
January 22, 1999
File: 806170J -0240
Mr. Jim March, Administrator
City of Centerville
1880 Main Street
Centerville, MN 55038
RE: REVISED FLOODWAY WIDTH ALONG CLEARWATER CREEK
WEST OF 20'" AVENUE, CENTERVILLE, MINNESOTA
Dear Mr. March!
As authorized at the City Council meeting on January 13, 1999, we have oornpieted a
preliminary floodway revision to the Clearwater Creek floodplain model. Attached to this latter,
please find a copy of an exhibit illustrating the potential revised floodway width on Clearwater
Creek west of 2r Avenue.
The proposed floodway Is shifted significantly to the north of the present floodway location. The
proposed floodway Is almost entirely north of the property formally known as the Lake Areas
Utilities Property and the floodway also avoids the building on the Stevens property. The
corridor is approximately 100 feet in width and results in only minor water surface changes
upstream.
Our recommendation at this time would be to submit the revised floodway to the Rice Creek
Watershed District for a preliminary review of our revisions. If the Watershed District concurs
with our revised flcodway determination, we could then begin processing a Letter Of Map
Revision (LOMR) with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
We will be in attendance at the January 2r City Council meeting to further discuss this item
with you- If you have any questions regarding this potential floodway revision, we can answer
your questions at that time.
Sincerely.
HOWARD R.
