a <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: February 18, 1999 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor and Council <br /> FROM: Ry -Chel Gaustad, CMC City Clerk <br /> RE: Consider the Purchase of a Podium - Cable Franchise Fees <br /> It has come to Staff's attention that a podium in the Council chambers may benefit the meetings <br /> efficiency and enhance the professional atmosphere. If the Council elects to authorize the <br /> purchase of a podium, I recommend using franchise funds. <br /> In March, the City will receive 1998 Cable Franchise funds of approximately $3,250. This should <br /> not be confused with the cable excess funds that will be returned to member Cities. <br /> The following are some purchasing options: <br /> 1. Purchase a Podium from a business supply house $200.00 - $2,000 (See attached). <br /> 2. Request Public Works construct a podium - $200.00 materials/labor. <br /> 3, Hire a local woodworker to construct the podium. <br /> 4. Request the council table maker to construct a podium to match the Council table. <br /> The following are possible components: <br /> 1. A Microphone <br /> 2. Stationary or with wheels <br /> 3.
