— CENTERVILLE COMMUNITY MEETING
MINNESOTA DESIGN TEAM
SEPTEMBER 25, 1998
1. What are the three best things about Centerville today?
• Small town/community atmosphere.
• Natural environment/amenities.
• Community institutions.
• Heritage.
• Growth opportunities.
2. Does Centerville need a downtown? If yes, what three things would you like
to see there? If no, why not?
Most people said YES
• Small, locally -owned shops that are unique to Centerville.
• Place for kids.
• Incorporate heritage - preserve what the older generation worked for.
• Physical improvements.
If NO, why not?
• Too close to Twin Cities.
• Too small.
• Too isolated from other movement corridors- e.g. bike trails.
• Physical condition — eyesore.
3. How would you like CSAH 14 to change, if at all?
• Most consensus around CSAH 14 not changing or being.
"downgraded" with sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lanes, slower speeds,
no trucks, stop signs.
• Some agreement to re -route it out of the village center.
• Convert to three lanes, with central turn lane.
• Streetscape improvements - lighting, landscaping, entry statement.
• Adjacent land uses - stores, residences, fill in "missing teeth ".
4. If you left Centerville for five years, what would you hope to see upon your
return?
"A home town, where families and kids can live in harmony with growth,
development and the environment."
• Downtown.
• Physical character.
• Development.
• Beautification.
• Public realm.
• Community identity.
