ti! 2 4 1996
Dear Centerville Council members,
In regards to the proposed rezoning of the Lessard property, ajacent to Eagle Pass and Center
street. My wife Mary Ann and I are opposed to a zoning change. We attended two public
meetings on this matter. Many residents will be adversly affected if you decide the area must
be commercial. You have a petition representing the wishes of most of my neighbors.Except
for the owner of this property,Mr. Lessard, no one else can explain why you should diverge
from the Comprehensive Plan so recently adopted. It is my understanding that this plan is an
intelligent one, not to be taken lightly. Why would the desire of one property owner hold
sway over the many other interested parties.
Too little time was spent by the planning board before reaching their conclusions.
Neither the planning board, citizens,or council members have enough facts yet. Example: Is
all or part of this land considered wetland?
If you still feel commercial use is justified, can we home owners receive written
assurances that no further deviations will occur?
Also the process is flawed in my estimation. On July 7 , a land use plan was presented
to the commission and other residents of centerville, in a public forum. Then at the very same
session the plan was voted upon. Why the rush? We citizens had no time to consider or react
accordingly. I suggest our representatives act in a more fair manner.
sincerely, Ronald and Mary Ann Lenz
( Y L
4:"
/z
