COUNTY OF ANOKA
Office of the County Board of Commissioners
GOVERNMENT CENTER
2100 3rd Avenue • Anoka, Minnesota 55303 -2489
(612) 323 -5680
MARGARET LANGFELD June 4, 1999
County Board of Commissioners
The Honorable Tom Wilharber
Mayor, City of Centerville
6849 Centerville Road
Centerville, MN 55038
Dear Tom:
In an effort to make Anoka County services more available to families and individuals in the eastern
part of the county, the Anoka County Board of Commissioners is establishing the Eastern Anoka
County Human Service Center in Lexington. The center is located adjacent to the Lexington city
offices in the Lovell Building at 4175 Lovell Road.
The center will be open for services on June 14, 1999. As you encounter families and individuals who
would benefit from the services in this location, please encourage them to visit the center. There will
be staff at the center from a number of different county departments:
• Child Protection • Public Health Nursing
• Children's Mental Health • Income Maintenance
• Child Care Licensing (financial assistance programs)
• Corrections • Volunteer Services
Working together, these staff are able to provide better and more comprehensive services to Anoka
County families.
A similar center opened in Columbia Heights in 1996. This effort to provide community based
services and develop new resources for families has been very successful. I look forward to building
the same success in the Lexington location.
Persons interested in volunteering in this area should also be encouraged to visit the center. There
is always a need and opportunity to serve in a variety of areas.
An open house at the new Lexington site will be held later this summer. The date hasn't been set.
You, of course, will be invited to attend. I hope to see you then.
Sincerely,
yit
Margaret Langfeld
Anoka County Commissioner
