MEMO
DATE : June 4, 1999
TO : Honorable Mayor and Council
FROM : Jim March
RE : Rezone Request - Gerald Rehbein
********************************* * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * **
Mr. Gerald Rehbein requested that a parcel currently zoned RI (Rural Residential) be rezoned to
I1 (Industrial). This property is shown on the attached map.
The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on this matter. No one was in
attendance at the hearing. The Commission passed the following motion:
Motion by Chair Welk, seconded by Mr. Hanson to recommend the property in 0 remain
and the portion in Rl (Rural Residential) be rezoned to II (Industrial) and the area that is
park be rezoned accordingly, contingent upon the Parks and Recreation Commission
approvaL Motion carried unanimously.
I attended the Park and Recreation Committee meeting where they passed the following motion
on this issue:
Motion by Doug Porter to agree with the Planning and Zoning Commission's
recommendation for Council to approve the rezone from RI to 11. Motion seconded by
Steve Brown. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously.
I would reconunend that this property be rezoned. I was told that the reason that it was originally
RI (Rural Residential) was because of an old trailer house that used to exist on this property. It
would be in the long term best interests of the City to have this property zoned II (Industrial).
