Four years later, Marcel was elected to <br /> the City Council and served a two -year term. In 1972, he ran for mayor again and won. <br /> Besides holding public office, Marcel offered much more of his time to the community. <br /> gP � . Y <br /> He served for 29 years on the Fire Department. He is a lifelong member of St. <br /> Genevieve's Church and chaired several of the annual picnic committees. He was the <br /> Chief Ranger of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and served as the president of the <br /> Centerville Athletic Club. He is a charter member of the Lion's Club, which began 25 <br /> years ago, and has held the office of president. Of all his achievements, he is most proud <br /> of organizing the Friendly Valley Baseball League, a Class B league that encompassed <br /> several of the area towns. They often made it to the State Championships. <br /> In 1992, his wife Dorothy became seriously ill. Marcel retired to stay home and take care <br /> of her until she passed away a few years later. Marcel's daughter, Peggy, nominated her <br /> father for this Lifetime Achievement Award. She says that he has been a major asset to <br /> Centerville and has always been the type of person anyone can look up to. We <br /> completely agree! <br /> So today, Marcel, all of us are looking up to you and recognize your valuable <br /> contributions. You have been an outstanding leader, business owner, and family man. <br /> We sincerely thank you for your lifetime commitment to the Centerville community. <br /> Congratulations! <br />
