MEMO <br /> DATE: September 30, 1999 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> FROM: Aimee Fairbrother <br /> RE: Animal Ordinance #24 <br /> Council member Broussard- Vickers and myself have revised the attached Animal Ordinance, <br /> incorporating changes as suggested by the Chief Heckman, Attorney Jim Hoeft, Centerville City <br /> Council, and Administrator Jim March. <br /> Please review the revised draft of the Animal Ordinance, for discussion at the October 13t City <br /> Council meeting. A copy of the draft was forwarded to the Chief of Police and the City Attorney <br /> for their comments. <br /> With the adoption of this Ordinance, the Council will need to determine the approach staff should <br /> take on existing animals that are under the "lifetime of the dog" clause from the current <br /> Ordinance. Upon review of the Dog Licenses, we have issued about 570 since 1975. <br /> How do we notify them and enforce the change? <br /> Are they grand fathered in? <br />
