Memorandum
DATE : November 18, 1999
TO : Honorable Mayor and Council
FROM: Jim March
RE : Payment Drop Box
************************************** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * **
Enclosed in your packet is some literature on some sample payment drop boxes. The
current payment drop box consists of a residential mailbox on a steel fence post
adjacent to the City Hall parking lot. The current drop box is non - secure, unattractive
and ineffectively labeled. Many residents use the current drop box, but a large
number of residents are unaware of the existing drop box and hand deliver their
payments into City Hall.
I would recommend purchasing a new drop box for the following reasons: improved
security, visual appeal and improved customer service. Now that the City has
adopted a rental policy for the Council Chambers, users would also be able to drop
City Hall keys in a more secure location. I would recommend that the Council
authorize the purchase of Model 400 which has the capacity of 100+ payments.
