Ci of Centerville <br /> Animal Ordinance #24 - Updated 10/27/99 <br /> an animal from escaping therefrom, and/or designed to provide the animal with shelter and <br /> protection from the weather. <br /> 1 Subd. 8 Kennel - Commercial. Any structure or premises on which five (5) or <br /> more domestic animals over six (6) months of age are kept, owned, boarded, groomed, sheltered, <br /> protected, bred, or offered for sale or any other merchandising. Every kennel shall be enclosed or <br /> fenced in such a manner as to prevent the running at large or escape of the domestic animal(s) <br /> confined therein. <br /> Subd. 9 Kennel - Private. Any structure or premises on which four (4) or less domestic <br /> XGI animals over six (6) months of age are kept for private enjoyment and not for monetary gain. <br /> Every kennel shall be enclosed or fenced in such a manner as to prevent running at Large or escape <br /> of the domestic animal confined therein. <br /> Subd. 10 Owner. Any person, firm, corporation, organization, or department, possessing, <br /> feeding, harboring, keeping, having an interest in, or having temporary or permanent custody or <br /> control of the animal. <br /> Subd. 11 Animal Control Officer. A person employed by or under contract with the City or a <br /> licensed peace officer who is responsible for animal control enforcement. <br /> 24.02 Restrictions. <br /> Subd. 1 Running at Large Prohibited. It shall be unlawful for the domestic animal of any <br /> person who owns, harbors, or keeps a domestic animal to run at large. Dogs or cats must be on a <br /> leash accompanied by an individual capable of controlling the animal as needed. Subject to the <br /> above restrictions, dogs and cats shall be permitted in streets or on public land unless the City has <br /> posted an area with signs reading "Dogs or Cats Prohibited." <br /> Subd. 2 License Required. <br /> li All dogs, cats and ferrets over the age of six months kept, harbored, or <br /> maintained by their owners in the City, shall be licensed and registered with the <br /> City. Licenses shall be issued by City Staff upon payment of the license fee. The <br /> license fee will be established by Council resolution or separate Ordinance. Such <br /> license shall be renewed every two years for the life of the animal provided that the <br /> owner shows proof every two years that the animal has shots within that period <br /> and provided the address of the owner remains the same. The owner shall state, at <br /> the time application is made for the license and upon forms provided for such <br /> purpose. his or her name and address and the name, breed, color, and sex of each <br /> animal owned or kept by him or her.
