Review Animal Ordinance <br /> The commission discussed in great detail the current and proposed animal ordinance. Many <br /> different issues were brought to the table and reviewed. Additional time for further discussion on <br /> the animal ordinance is necessary for completion, and will be placed on the September agenda. <br /> Specific areas of concern discussed were: <br /> • Possibly removing certain animals from the list. <br /> ► Grand fathering clause for specific animals (i.e. ferrets, allowing existing ferrets to remain <br /> in City upon licensing, until death of the animal. <br /> ► The control of pigeons. Possibly add the pigeon section of the Coon Rapids Ordinance. <br /> ► Household pet vaccination period, increase to once every two years. <br /> ► Types of animals to be licensed; dogs, cats, ferrets, etc. <br /> ► Require proof of rabies vaccination each time the license is renewed. <br /> ► Limiting the number of dogs and cats per household. <br /> ► Animals running at large; household and wild. <br /> The commission will request Police Chief Joel Heckman to review the proposed ordinance, as <br /> well as request guidance from Centerville City Council. <br /> Year 2000 Budget Considerations <br /> Motion by Mr. DeVine, seconded by Mr. Kilian to table Year 2000 Budget Considerations. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> ACTION ITEMS <br /> Action on Signage for Apple Tree Square <br /> Motion by Mr. Hanson, seconded by Mr. DeVine to approve sign age for Apple Tree <br /> Square based on the sketches provided. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Recommendations on Animal Ordinance <br /> Motion by Mr. Kilian, seconded by Mr. DeVine to table the Animal Ordinance.
