Diane Ward the City Clerk position for the City of Centerville. All in favor. Motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> Mr. March indicated he would check with Ms. Ward's previous employer along with <br /> completing a background check. <br /> 4. Year 2000 Proposed Budget <br /> Mayor Wilharber opened the discussion on the proposed budget, and informed the <br /> Council there would be a Tri -City Police meeting on Wednesday, September 1, 1999 to <br /> discuss the year 2000 police department budget and the revised joint powers agreement <br /> for the department. <br /> Mayor Wilharber questioned the Council on their feelings toward supporting the Police <br /> Department increases. The Council indicated they would be in support of the increases, <br /> providing the other Cities involved were in agreement. <br /> Council member Sweeney indicated he would like to see the City grow and become more <br /> prosperous, but questioned the necessity of the current twenty-four hour police coverage. <br /> Mayor Wilharber responded that a decrease in the coverage may result in an increase in <br /> City liability as well as a lack of quality of service currently being provided by the Police <br /> Department. <br /> Discussion on the current and future MUSA and building permit forecast for the year <br /> 2000 took place at the Workshop. <br /> Motion by Mayor Wilharber, seconded by Council member Sweeney to <br /> maintain the current levy amount at a tax rate of .48862. All in favor. Motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> 5. Adjourn <br /> Motion b Council member Travi seconded b Council member Sweene to <br /> adjourn the Special Workshop at 8:55 p.m. All in favor.
