4ndrE <br /> • <br /> e <br /> • <br /> HORSE ORDINANCE <br /> The City of Andover has an ordinance -that is <br /> designed to regulate the keeping of horses. This ordin- <br /> ance has been in effect since August 16. 1974. The <br /> major points of said ordinance are as follows: <br /> No horses, ponies or foals shall be kept on any <br /> plat of less than 25S acres; and no more than one horse t <br /> per half acre on any plats under five acres. A minimum <br /> enclosure, or corral of at least 800 square feet per animal <br /> is required, with a roofed enclosure of not less than 100 <br /> square feet; said structure shall not be closer than 100 <br /> feet from any occupied residence. All animals must be <br /> kept in the rear yard only. <br /> All persons keeping horses on less than five <br /> acres must have a permit. These permits, while not <br /> available at the time of this Newsletter, will soon be <br /> at the City Hall. A Horseman's Council, made up of <br /> five persons, will review all applications for permits, all <br /> complaints and requests for variances, and make reom- <br /> mendations to the City Council. / 1 <br /> All residents who have horses, or are contem- <br /> plating getting animals of this type. should be sure to <br /> get a copy of Ordinance No. 23 from City Hall. <br /> Allan Miles, P. & Z. . <br />
