CITY OF COON RAPIDS, MINNESOTA <br /> CHAPTER 6 -100 <br /> DOG CONTROL <br /> 6 -101 Applicability of Chapter 5 -100. The provisions of <br /> Chapter 5 -100 shall apply to the issuance of licenses hereunder to <br /> the extent applicable. <br /> 6 -102 Definitions. As used in this chapter, unless the <br /> context otherwise indicates: <br /> (1) "Dog" shall mean any male or female of any breed of <br /> domesticated dog. <br /> (2) "Owner" shall mean the license holder or any other <br /> person or persons, firm, association, organization or corporation <br /> owning, keeping, possessing, having an interest in, having care <br /> custody or control of or harboring a dog. Any person keeping or <br /> harboring a dog for five (5) consecutive days shall, for the <br /> purposes of this chapter, be deemed an owner therecf. <br /> (3) "Running at large" shall mean any dog which is not <br /> either: <br /> (a) Effectively contained within a fenced area on <br /> private property, or <br /> (b) Effectively restrained, by chain or leash, to <br /> private property with the consent of the property owner, or <br /> (c) Effectively restrained by a chain or leash not to <br /> exceed six (6) feet in length. <br /> (4) "Dangerous Dog" shall mean any dog that has: <br /> (a) Without provocation, inflicted substantial bodily <br /> harm on a human being on public or private property; <br /> (b) Killed a domestic animal without provocation while <br /> off the owner's property; or <br /> (c) Been found to be potentially dangerous, and after <br /> the owner has noticed that the dog is potentially dangerous, <br /> the dog aggressively bites, attacks, or endangers the safety <br /> of humans or domestic animals. <br /> (5) "Potentially Dangerous Dog" shall mean any dog that: <br /> (a) When unprovoked, inflicts bites on a human or <br /> domestic animal on public or private property; <br /> (b) When unprovoked, chases or approaches a person upon <br /> the streets, sidewalks, or any public property in an apparent <br /> attitude of attack; or <br /> (c) Has a known propensity, tendency or disposition to <br /> attack unprovoked, causing injury or otherwise threatening the <br /> safety of humans or domestic animals. <br /> 6 -100 -1 <br />
