CITY OF COON RAPIDS, MINNESOTA <br /> CHAPTER 6 -200 <br /> KENNELS <br /> 6 -201 Applicability of Chapter 5 -100. The provisions of <br /> Chapter 5 -100 shall apply to the issuance of licenses hereunder to <br /> the extent applicable. <br /> 6 -202 Declaration of Nuisance. Because the keeping of three <br /> (3) or more dogs, cats, or any combination thereof, on the same <br /> premises is subject to great abuse, causing discomfort to persons <br /> in the area, by way of smell, noise, hazard, and general aesthetic <br /> depreciation, and because the irresponsible maintenance of three or <br /> more animals within a residential area has been the source of a <br /> variety of complaints, the keeping of three (3) or more dogs, cats, <br /> or any combination thereof, on one (1) premises is hereby declared <br /> to be a nuisance. [Revised 12/06/91, Ordinance No. 1364] <br /> 6 -203 Definitions. For the purpose of this chapter the <br /> following definitions shall apply: <br /> (1) "Kennel" means a place where more than two dogs, cats, <br /> or any combination thereof are kept for the business of selling, <br /> boarding for a fee, breeding for sale, or some other enterprise <br /> intended primarily for profit making purposes. The term "kennel" <br /> shall include pet stores, but shall not include pet grooming shops <br /> or animal hospitals. [Revised 4/2/96, Ord. No. 1562] <br /> (2) "Multiple Pet Location" means a place where more than <br /> two dogs, cats, or any combination thereof over six months of age <br /> are kept which does not constitute a kennel. No. 1563] <br /> (3) "Run" means an area of property defined by fencing or <br /> Similar barriers and intended exclusively for the confinement of <br /> animals. [Revised 4/2/96, Ord. No. 1563] <br /> 6 -204 License Required. No person shall keep or maintain a <br /> kennel in the City except upon obtaining a license from the City <br /> Council. Kennel licenses shall only be granted in the Community <br /> Commercial or General Commercial zoning districts. [Revised <br /> 12/06/91, Ordinance No. 1394] [Revised 4/2/96, Ord. No. 1563] <br /> 6 -205 Permit Reauired. No person shall keep or maintain a <br /> multiple pet location except upon obtaining a multiple pet permit <br /> from the City Council. All animals subject to a kennel <br /> license or multiple pet permit must be confined to the premises by <br /> adequate fencing as determined by the City Council.
