MEMO <br /> DATE : September 8, 2000 <br /> TO : Honorable Mayor and Council <br /> FROM: Jim March <br /> RE : 2001 Budget, Resolution 00 -18 — tax rate increase, <br /> Resolution 00 -19 — certifying initial tax rate <br /> Included in your packet is Resolution #00 -18. This is in regards to a relatively new law <br /> that requires that this type of resolution be adopted if the City is considering a tax rate <br /> increase. Even though we are contemplating keeping our tax rate at the same level, we <br /> will need to adopt this resolution and file the resolution with Anoka County. Council <br /> adopted a similar resolution last year. <br /> Resolution #00 -19 needs to be adopted so that we can certify our proposed initial levy to <br /> Anoka County. This proposed levy would keep our tax rate at the same level. Council <br /> will have the ability to decrease this levy prior to final levy certification, but will not be <br /> able to increase this levy amount. <br /> A copy of the latest revised proposed budget will be distributed at the Council meeting. <br />
