There were a total of 7 bids The following summarizes the results of the low 5 bids received.
Can(ractur I8!/AL ,llrrrnaty Rid
Low Ford Construction Co., Inc. $84,858.00 - 59.000.00
#2 Jay Brothers, Inc 585,672.00
#5 Penn Contracting 589,400,00
The low bidder was Furd Construction Co., Inc. with a base bid of 584,858.00. The low contractor also
submitted an alternate bid (deduct of $9,000.00) for in alternate pump and control package (rum Quality
Flow, Inc. using KSB pumps and IISEMCO'S above grade -valve package. Acceptance of this alternate
would reduce the project cost to $75,858.00.
The base bid with the alternate deduct bid exceeds the engineer's estimate of S52,000 for Ihls equipment.
We therefore recommend the city reject all bids at this time.
Several cost cutting options need to he pursued to reduce the overall cost of this project. The following
options should be discussed with city staff:
I.
11.c-bid this project with a future, larger project.
2. Modify the plans to relocate valves inside of the wet -well ant re -hid Willi a cnnvenl
above grade control panel.
3. Obtain equipment -only quotes from suppliers, purchase equipment directly, and then bid
the installation with a future project.
