Mr. March stated the <br /> current water tower will serve the city until the city is built out, and indicated we may <br /> not want to spend funds at this time, but keep the money in the bank gaining interest <br /> until a recommendation from the City Engineer to add a water tower has been given. <br /> Health Benefits <br /> Mr. March indicated Deputy Clerk Teresa Bender researched what other communities <br /> of Centerville's size and population received for health benefits. It appears that what <br /> at the City is currently offering is below the average. <br /> Motion by Council Member Sweeney, seconded by Council Member Broussard <br /> Vickers to approve the increase the proposed benefit plan. All in favor. Motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> IX. NEW BUSINESS <br /> Select Cable Operator <br /> Letters of interest were submitted from Michele Wroblewski and Michael Chaney for <br /> the current Cable Operator position. <br /> Motion by Council Member Sweeney, seconded by Council Member Nelson to <br /> accept Michele Wroblewski as the Cable Operator. All in favor. Motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> Goals and Objectives for 2000 <br /> Mr. Sweeney discussed the current Public Works site and shared an idea with the <br /> Council that would provide the City the ability to control the type of building that <br /> would locate on the property. Mr. Sweeney's suggested that instead of the City trying <br /> to sell the public works property, may be the City should look at purchasing the <br /> duplex on the corner, cleaning up the lot and placing a municipal facility on the <br /> property, including a new City Hall, a library and a post office. <br /> In addition, Mr. Sweeney suggested the current City Hall building could be turned into <br /> a "community center ". <br /> Mayor Wilharber stated his concern about losing a tax base by purchasing Eagle <br /> Trucking, and would like to see the addition of a taxable unit built on the current <br /> public works site. <br /> 4 <br />
