1
MEMO
DATE : June 21, 2000
TO : Honorable Mayor and Council
FROM: Jim March
RE : 2000 Fete des Lacs - Noise permit
3.2 beer permit
Application to conduct excluded bingo
Ballfield fences at LaMotte Park
Application to conduct excluded raffle
This memo serves as a formal request to Council to authorize a noise permit for the
annual Fete des Lacs. The event will have many activities from Friday through Sunday.
The noise permit will probably apply primarily to the fireworks on Friday evening and
the street dance on Saturday evening. The street dance is scheduled from 8:00 — 12:00.
Also included in your packet is an application for a 3.2 beer permit. The fee for this
permit has traditionally been waived.
There is also an application to conduct excluded bingo in your packet. This exclusion
needs to be acknowledged by the City. The application is sent to the Charitable
Gambling Control Board. There is no fee for this permit.
There also needs to be discussion on the outfield fences at LaMotte Park. I heard that this
item was briefly discussed at the last Council meeting. The Park and Recreation
Committee suggested that maybe Kelly's Korner was interested in paying for the outfield
fences. In speaking to the owner of this establishment, he is not able to make this
donation. It is imperative that fences be installed to complete these fields. I have spoke
to a number of members from the Lion's Club that have agreed to donate their time to
install this fence. Either the Council or the Park and Recreation Committee have to
authorize the expenditure for the fencing or the softball tournament will have to be
cancelled. Without fences, the tournament will not be sanctioned by the USSSA.
Also included in your packet is a copy of an application to conduct an excluded raffle.
This raffle will have prizes with a total value of under $750. The City does not have to
formally approve this item, but this has been placed in your packet for informational
purposes only.
