the committee began working now, they would have the option to move the <br /> Celebration to another weekend allowing booking of a carnival. <br /> Council Member Sweeney stated he would not be in favor of moving the City <br /> Celebration to the 4 of July because many people are out of town. Mr. March noted <br /> if the Council was in favor of allowing the Celebration to change, it would allow the <br /> Committee to contact and book a carnival with greater flexibility. <br /> Mr. DeVine noted he would appreciate this flexibility for the Celebration to keep the <br /> community involved. Council Member Nelson stated she would be in favor of this <br /> flexibility in changing the date and indicated the last weekend in June would be fine. <br /> Council Member Travis concurred and stated the celebration was a success this year <br /> with the carnival. <br /> Mayor Wilharber stated he felt the Committee should be able to arrange the date as <br /> long as it does not conflict with neighboring cities. He indicated he felt the carnival <br /> was a "draw" and noted he would like to have the Celebration continue to grow. <br /> Mayor Wilharber thanked all the volunteers that contributed to the Celebration. He <br /> noted the Celebration was a "great success ". <br /> V. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES <br /> July 26, 2000, Council Meeting Minutes <br /> Motion by Council Member Nelson, seconded by Council Member Sweeney to <br /> approve the July 26, 2000, Council meeting minutes as amended on page seven. <br /> paragraph eight changing the City of Circle Pines to the City of Lexington and on <br /> page eight removing "Council Member Sweeney seconded the motion" within the <br /> first motion. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> VI. PAYMENT OF CLAIMS <br /> The City of Centerville July 27, 2000, through August 9, 2000 <br /> Motion by Council Member Nelson, seconded by Council Member Sweeney to <br /> approve the expenditures for the City from July 27, 2000, through August 9 2000. <br /> All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Centennial Fire District Expenses <br /> Motion by Council Member Sweeney, seconded by Council Member Nelson to <br /> approve the Centennial Fire District expenditures in the amount of $6,028.93.
