CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> December 9, 2009 <br /> 6:30 p.m. <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held their regularly scheduled <br /> meeting on December 9, 2009, at City Hall, 1880 Main Street. <br /> PRESENT: Mayor Mary Capra <br /> Council Member Linda Broussard Vickers <br /> Council Member Ben Fehrenbacher <br /> Council Member Jeff Paar <br /> Council Member D. Love <br /> ABSENT: None. <br /> STAFF: City Administrator Dallas Larson <br /> City Attorney Kurt Glaser <br /> City Engineer Mark Statz <br /> Finance Director Mike Jeziorski <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Mayor Capra called the December 9, 2009, City Council meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> II. PUBLIC HEARING(S) <br /> 1. Budget & Tax Levies for 2010 <br /> Finance Director Jeziorski presented a brief presentation on the Budget and Tax Levies <br /> for 2010. He reviewed the General Fund Expenditures, which includes the General <br /> Government, Public Safety, Public Works, Culture and Recreation, Capital Outlay and <br /> Economic Development. He stated that the total Tax Levy increase is $2,265,661.00, <br /> equaling an 11% increase. <br /> Mayor Capra opened the Public Hearing at 6:33 p.m. <br /> Erick Marshall, 7216 Lovell Drive, appeared before the Council expressing his concern <br /> regarding the tax increase. He stated his taxes have increased from $4,200 in the year <br /> 2007 to $5,600 this year. He questioned the increase in taxes while his business revenue <br /> is decreasing. He noted his objection to such a large increase over the short span of two <br /> years. He stated with the economic crisis, tax increases in this amount are what would <br /> encourage him to move out of Centerville. <br /> 1 <br />
