Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning and <br /> Zoning Committee held a public hearing on November 8, 1984 <br /> in City Hall. Chairman Prachar called the meeting to order <br /> at 7:08 PM. Present were Tourville and Murray. Absent were <br /> Welk, Lindgren, Dupre, LaMotte. <br /> Clerk read the public hearing notice on the rezoning request <br /> from Gordon Rehbein to rezone his property from commercial <br /> to industrial. <br /> Gordon Rehbein and Rod Herdina from Sunrise Plastics explained <br /> their position to the Planning and Zoning Committee. Sunrise <br /> Plastics has outgrown their present building. They would <br /> like to hire 30 - 40 more people and expand the present <br /> building 30 feet to the north, 20 feet to the south, and to <br /> the east as needed. They presently have a 5 day 8 hour per <br /> day first shift, and a 4 day 10 hour per day second shift. <br /> Before going to more shifts they would expand in equipment. <br /> They need a rezoning from commercial to industrial in order <br /> to obtain a building permit. <br /> The following people expressed their concerns: <br /> Larry Brokke - 6795 - 20th Avenue - lives next door to Sunrise <br /> Plastics. <br /> 1. Plastic debris blowing on property. <br /> 2. Water discharge on his property. <br /> 3. Traffic and noise from employees <br /> during second shift. <br /> 4. Devaluation of his property. <br /> 5. Sewer system unable to handle <br /> additional people. <br /> 6. Lack of consideration when dealing <br /> with anyone in the past. <br /> Ken Carpenter - 6985 - 20th Avenue <br /> 1. Sludge was hauled in and contaminated <br /> pond and creek behind property. <br /> 2. Disrespect for neighbors <br /> 3. Areas in the City zoned Industrial <br /> were set up for industry, areas zoned <br /> commercial were set up for commercial <br /> businesses and they should remain that <br /> way. <br /> 4. If approved, want strip of pond beautified, <br /> cleaned and dredged up to and including <br /> his property. <br /> 5.
