VILLAGE OF CENTERVILLE <br /> GENERAL STREET CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS <br /> 1. GENERAL CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS <br /> The following specifications are general and will apply to each and <br /> every street hereafter constructed in the Village. Definite and detailed speci- <br /> fications and plans shall be designed by the Village Engineer for each individual <br /> project based upon its own location and special features. The detailed speci- <br /> fications shall be in accordance with this general outline and for the purpose <br /> of residential street construction. All Village streets, including residential <br /> access streets, shall be designed as minimum 5 ton (axle loading ) all weather <br /> streets capable of handling a minimum of 400 vehicles per day. <br /> 2. RIGHT -OF -WAY <br /> All streets constructed shall be constructed on right -of -ways of not <br /> less than 60 feet in width, except primary streets shall be constructed on right - <br /> of -ways of such additional width as may be necessary to accommodate the final <br /> completed ultimate street as required by the ultimate use for which that street <br /> is designed. <br /> 3. TEST <br /> The Council may authorize the engineer to conduct such tests, take <br /> such borings or make such surveys as may be necessary for the proper design of the <br /> street. The cost of such test borings and /or surveys shall be considered as part <br /> of the overall cost of the street improvements. <br /> 4. GRADING <br /> All streets shall be graded for the full width of the right -of -way in <br /> accordance with the designed typical cross sections prepared and staked by the <br /> Village Engineer. <br /> After rough grading has been accomplished and the street is at the <br /> approximate designed grade for the full width of the right -of -way, the center <br /> 32 feet lying 16 feet on each side of centerline shall be undercut to an elevation <br /> which is twelve (12) inches below the established profile grade, or to a depth <br /> adequate to accommodate the sub -base, base and bituminous surfacing. <br /> 5. SUB GRADE <br /> The sub -grade of the streets shall be so constructed as to satisfact- <br /> orily sustain the street in a stable condition. Any unsuitable or undesirable <br /> material shall be removed. <br /> 6. SUB -BASE AND BASE <br /> All streets shall be constructed having a gravel sub -base of six inch <br /> minimum thickness using gravel conforming to MHD Spec. No. 3138 Class 4, and <br /> a gravel base of three inch minimum thickness using gravel conforming to M.H.D. <br /> Spec. No. 3138, Class 5. The total minimum thickness of the sub -base and base <br /> as mentioned above, are applicable . to the A -6 sub -grade soil group. For other <br /> soil groups the following factors shall be employed to determine the total minimum <br /> thickness of the sub -base and base. Adjustment of the total thickness shall be <br /> made in sub -base only and the three inch minimum thickness of the base shall not <br /> be decreased. <br />
