PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> TUESDAY, AUGUST 3, 1993 <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning and Zoning <br /> Commission of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting <br /> on Tuesday, August 3, 1993 at the City Hall. Acting Chairperson <br /> Vermeulen called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Present: <br /> Drilling, LaMotte, City Council Liaison Dario. Absent: <br /> Tourville, Welk. <br /> MINUTES: <br /> The approval of the following meeting minutes were tabled: <br /> - April 13, 1993; <br /> - June 1,1993; <br /> - July 6, 1993, <br /> until a majority of the Commission members in attendance at the <br /> meetings are present to approve. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Request for Variance - 1581 Peltier Lake Drive <br /> It was noted that Ordinance #4, Section 34.03 AVERAGE SETBACK <br /> could not be applied to the proposed addition at 1581 Peltier <br /> Lake Drive. Gunnar Pettersen, Building Inspector, noted that it <br /> could not be applied due to the front yards on the lots varying <br /> in depth to an extent greater than six (6) feet. <br /> Jeff Godwin, 1581 Peltier Lake Drive, requested that if the <br /> request for variance is denied, that he be given the perimeters <br /> of buildable space, and he will change his plans accordingly. <br /> Commission member Vermeulen noted that she was in the same <br /> situation about six year ago. Commission member Vermeulen noted <br /> she had applied for variance to do addition to her home. <br /> rnmmigsion member Vermeulen noted that they had to change their <br /> plans to build within the setbacks. <br /> Commission member Drilling noted that Godwins may have to change <br /> their plans to conform to the buildable area. Commission member <br /> Drilling noted that the Planning and Zoning Commission is <br /> responsible to see that the criteria of the ordinance is upheld. <br /> Commission member Drilling also expressed that in order to grant <br /> a variance there has to be exceptional reasons given. Commission <br /> member Drilling stated that, in his opinion, the Godwin's request <br /> for variance does not meet the standards for the granting of a <br /> variance. <br /> Jeff Godwin noted that he can expand in the rear to the existing <br /> porch. Mr. Godwin also noted that Rice Creek Watershed District <br /> has approved a variance to build his addition. Mr. Godwin <br /> expressed that he can not come up with a reason why the variance <br />
