Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Centerville held a public hearing on July 5, 1989 at City Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to hear all persons regarding a variance request to ordinance numbers 4 and 44 to add on to a structure devoted as a non- conforming use and to add on to said building using exterior wall surface of sheet metal; and a variance request to add on to existing building devoted as a non- conforming use (Ordinance #4), using exterior wall surface of sheet metal (Ordinance #44), at 6887 - 20th Avenue South. Vice - Chairperson Welk called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Present: Lindgren, Vermeulen, Welk, liaison Haberman. Absent: Drilling, Tourville. Also present were Chris Linz of Reel Manufacturing, 6867 - 20th Avenue South, and Gerry Rehbein, 6805 - 20th Avenue South. Mr. Linz summarized his intentions for use of this variance. The present structure is an 80' X 100' building. He employees 12 people. He wants to extend his building 40' and wants to use the same tan metal siding that is presently on the existing steel frame building. He will be improving the parking lot and adding landscaping. He has contacted the County and received approval for entrance to the county road from his parking lot. He feels keeping the same exterior will enhance the appearance of the building as opposed to using a different material which may look out of place. Gerry Rehbein noted that Reel Manufacturing has been a good neighbor and has done a good job of keeping up the property. Motion by Vermeulen, second by Lindgren to adjourn the hearing, motion carried unanimously.
