PARK AND RECREATION COMMIT FEE
SPECIAL MEETING ON JANUARY 17, 1996
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Park and Recreation Committee of the City of
Centerville held a special meeting on Wednesday, January 17, 1996. Acting Chair D. Larson
called the meeting to order at 7:25 p.m.
Members present: 11 Larson Members absent: R. Thompson
N. Johnson M. Navin
C. Zoff Pelton
K. Fogerty
B. Bisek
Councilmember Powers - Rasmussen
APPEARANCE:
Rockey Goertz, Klosner - Goertz Homes, Inc., presented the Clearwater Meadows concept plan
and rezoning map. He suggested an easement between lots 13 & 12, 23 & 24, with a bridge
costing approximately $20,000.
Zoff-Pelton suggested another easement between lots 3 & 4 to provide access to the future park
south of the city hall site identified in the park comp plan.
P &R considered the merits of installing trails and bridges at the lots listed above. In the end, we
decided the $20- 25,000 it would cost to install pavement and a bridge will be better spent at this
time at the Laurie LaMotte Park extension. We will take easements, which Mr. Goertz is very
agreeable to, for future development.
MOTION by Zoff - Pelton, second by Bisek to take $750 per lot at 31 lots for park land
dedication. Motion carried unanimously.
MOTION by Zoff - Pelton, second by Bisek to waive the $150 per lot for trail dedication, to
enforce the sidewalk ordinance requiring sidewalks on Brian Drive, and to include recorded trail
easements (20 feet wide) between lots 3 & 4, 13 & 12, and 23 & 24 for future development.
Motion carried unanimously.
P &R would like the City Council to have the engineer design utilities so they allow for future trail
development. In addition, per the MSA letter of January 5, 1996, per paragraph 6, this
conservation land is not park land and will be privately owned. Maintenance would be as with
other ponds and ditches.
MOTION by Fogerty, second by Johnson to adjourn the special meeting at 8:30 p.m. Motion
carried unanimously.
Respectfully submitted,
Carol Zoff - Pelton
Committee Member
