r <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Park and Recreation <br /> Committee of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting <br /> on Tuesday, April 10, 1990. Chairman Dixon called the meeting to <br /> order at 7:02 p.m. Present: Drilling, Reisdorfer Absent: <br /> LeTendre. <br /> APPEARANCES_ <br /> ORVILLE HUGHES, PUBLIC WORKS DTRECTO$ <br /> GATE FOR CENTRAL_ PARK <br /> Discussion on the need for a gate at Central Park. Orville <br /> Hughes, Public Works Director, was present. It appeared the need <br /> for a gate at Central Park is due to fire and party problems. <br /> The gate would close by the ice rink. The gate would be 14" x 4' <br /> with a cost of approximately $150, A key from City Hall would <br /> not be necessary for the opening of the gate. A key would only <br /> be needed for snow plowing and grass cutting. <br /> Motion by Dixon, second by Drilling to have Orville Hughes obtain <br /> a gate for Central Park. <br /> FENCE AT CENTRA.L._PARK <br /> • <br /> • <br /> It was noted that the north corner by the lift station needs a <br /> gate or fence to close it off. It was also noted that the snow <br /> fence needs to come down. The storage of gas cans is no longer <br /> permitted, per insurance. It was also questioned as to what kind <br /> of fence would be used for the outfield of the balifield. <br /> WAFER TONER PARK <br /> Discussion of the new park located by the water tower. Orville <br /> Hughes noted that steel stakes were put in on the boundaries. <br /> Trees, grading, leveling off and cleaning needs to be done. <br /> Question was to who would pay of this Carol Pelton, <br /> City Council member, was present to discuss the possibility of <br /> the cleaning up of this area by the volunteers for Earth Day on <br /> April 21, 1990. Orville Hughes asked that if there is anything <br /> else the Park and Recreation Committee wants from the Public <br /> Works Department to please notify him due to a smaller staff. <br /> FRANK ZTMNY - CENTENNTAL ICE ARENA <br /> Discussion on the possibility of a Centennial Ice Arena. Frank <br /> Zimny, 7252 La Valle Drive, was present. Mr. Zimny noted that <br /> some of the problems they were encountering are: <br /> - fund raising <br /> - politics <br /> - physical facility <br /> Mr. Zimny also expressed some avenues in which this ice arena <br /> could be achieved: <br /> - 3 -way partnership <br />
