Park and Recreation Committee <br /> Juicy 14th, 1988 Meeting Minutes <br /> Present: Carol Pelton Steve Dixon <br /> Cindy Paschke Steve Appel <br /> Leon L'Allier, Council Liaison <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:23 p.m. After reviewing the <br /> minutes, it was recommended that the picnic table to be purchased <br /> from Orville Hughes remain at the Hughes residence until next year, <br /> but that payment not be made until delivery. Dixon made the motion <br /> to accept the June minutes as written, seconded by Appel, unanimously <br /> accepted. <br /> Appel reviewed the financial report with the other P &R members, and <br /> questions were asked regarding expenditures that the secretary will <br /> check into with the Public Works Director. P &R requests that the <br /> City Clerk give them an estimate of the hours and expenses they will <br /> incur as administrative costs in the upcoming year. <br /> P &R requests that the vacancy in the P &R Committee be advertised in <br /> the City Newsletter and in the paper, in order to find a replacement <br /> for Steve Appel. <br /> The preliminary budget for 1989 will be set up at the August meeting. <br /> Pelton gave an update on the Central Park hockey rink. She stated <br /> that the final grading had been done and that on July 23rd, the <br /> posts were going to be put up with the rink installation being July <br /> 30th. There is alsogoing to be a welder and apprentice at Central <br /> Park the week of July 24th. Appel checked on light fixtures, and <br /> gave a report on the cost estimate. <br /> Paschke made the motion to recommend to the City Council that they <br /> approve a check for the cost of the materials to Metro Fence in <br /> advance, seconded by Dixon, unanimously accepted. <br /> P &R had a discussion regarding the Northwest Associated Consultants <br /> and the Rehbein Estates Development. It was stated that it was <br /> decided to focus development on the north side of Main Street instead <br /> of the south. Sidewalks and that Brian Street should be a through <br /> street were also discussed. <br /> P &R would like to recommend to the City Council that one of the consult- <br /> ants come to the August P &R meeting to address park issues and the <br /> comprehensive plan.
