Park and Recreation Committee <br /> October 13, 1987 Meeting Minutes <br /> Present: Gerald LeTendre Cindy Paschke <br /> Carol Pelton Floyd Laska, Council Liaison <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. <br /> After reviewing the minutes, LeTendre made the motion to accept <br /> the minutes, Pelton second, unanimously accepted. The City <br /> Council minutes were reviewed, and a letter was written to the <br /> City Council stating P & R's concerns with the final grading of <br /> Centerville Heights in regards to paragraph three, page six of <br /> the September 10th minutes. <br /> There was no report from the treasurer, as he was not present. <br /> P & R reviewed a letter from the Centennial Fire District, and <br /> will be contacting Orville Hughes, and the City Clerk about the <br /> possibility of switching the water controls so that the rink <br /> attendants would have access to them. LeTendre reported on repairs <br /> done to the present rink to make it usable for one more year. <br /> Over the past weekend, LeTendre and some volunteers have straightened <br /> the rink lights, cut weeds, and patched the rink. Thanks to <br /> LeTendre for his work: <br /> P & R requests tilat the City Clerk forward the ads regarding the <br /> temporary warming house to P & R members vs. looking for them herself. <br /> A letter will be sent to the Hockey Association and the Centennial <br /> High School in search of rink attendants for the 1987 -88 skating <br /> season. <br /> LeTendre made a motion to recommend to the City Council in regards <br /> to the seventh advisement, that P & R has not budgeted for the <br /> Summer Recreation Program, and have no monies for it, second by <br /> Paschke, unanimously accepted. It was also stated that P & R has <br /> never picked up that expense in previous years. <br /> P & R recommends to the City Council that at such a time that the <br /> school district were to remove the tennis court fencing and /or net <br /> posts, and they are usable, that they be returned to the city. A <br /> response is requested from the school district on this matter. <br /> P & R asks the City Clerk what outstanding balance is left on the <br /> debt reduction. <br /> Orville Hughes, Public Works Director, will be questioned as to what <br /> is involved in mowing the parks of Centerville. An ad will then be <br /> made up for the City Clerk to put in the Quad requesting bids for <br /> persons interested in mowing the parks. <br /> In regards to the water tower in Centerville Heights, P & R would <br /> like specific information such as setbacks from boundaries and <br />
